Meet the Physio-Life Team
Fiona Schreuder - Cardiorespiratory & General Rehabilitation/ Exercise Physiotherapist, Schreuder Health
Growing up in Australia I studied for my physiotherapy degree at Sydney University and graduated in 1991. I subsequently undertook a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff and graduated in 2003.
I decided early on in my career that I wished to specialise in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and have worked in this field since 1992 when I moved to the UK. I have worked in London teaching hospitals (The Royal Brompton National Heart & Lung Hospital; St Mary's, Paddington; St George's, Tooting) as well as holding posts at the Cardiothoracic Centre, Liverpool and Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
I have extensive experience in all aspects of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy including the treatment of COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, dysfunctional breathing; post cardiac, thoracic and general surgery; noninvasive ventilation; palliative care and intensive care. I have also developed an interest in exercise prescription, in particular pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, exercise training for weight loss and general rehabilitation of the frail and elderly.
I have also taught both undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapists at the University of Hertfordshire and University College London and maintain links with research and education.
I have lived in Hertfordshire with my husband and daughter since 2004. I enjoy exercise and will try just about any sport. I completed an Olympic distance triathlon in 2014, but am currently enjoying kettlebell exercises to improve my fitness and strength.
I am now thrilled to be working alongside Rachel and the team at Physio Life.
